For those that haven’t seen my most recent video, The Long Skate Episode Four, it is about the fate of my world record. I have refrained from submitting to use it as a tool to get the world to notice us. I am putting the fate of it to a vote for the world.
Why? It is to get more people to skate. I would rather walk away from something that took 3 months of my life and incurred major injuries to my body, just to get more people to skate. It is that important to me. It is a priority that I share with many of my friends.
Skating is the answer to so many of the problems that I see in the news. Broadcasters are constantly talking about the state of our nation’s people and health. Skating is the answer.
It can get your kids off the couch and outside being active. It can raise their self esteem and social skills. It can involve them in a team sport or just as a form of recreation.
It will help people to be active and healthy and help in losing weight. It will bring you out into nature where you can appreciate being alive. I wish I could show you the things that I have seen from a pair of skates. I can only hope that others will find out for themselves what the world looks like from outside of a car.
It can cut down on pollution if you use it commute like I did. Who needs a car? People have been getting around under their own power since the dawn of time. One of my friends says that his skates get infinity miles to the gallon. Mine do too.
If you believe in my dream, help me to spread the word as to what I am doing. Email the link to your friends. Send it to the local news channels and papers. Tell your friends that one of the crazy skaters is risking everything just to get people to skate.
It is not just a novel idea, it is something that has never happened before. No one has ever risked the fate of their own world record just to get people more active. This thing that I love is worth it to me. I would rather lose it to have more friends skating, than keep it and skate alone.
