Social networking for inline skaters

Everybody knows that learning how to stop one way or another is the make-or-break skill of inline skating. I have always been interested in innovative inline brake technology, and the most promising so far has been the 4XS disk brake system. Visit www.GetRolling.com to see the results of my 2007 tests of the prototype. In short, I found the 4XS:

• Applicable to all skill levels, from novice to screaming downhiller (that's you, George!)
Easy enough for a first-day skater to learn, with no toe-raise required (it's cuff-activated)
Adjustable to the skating situation without unwanted drag
Stops in half the distance than standard brakes, with silent and smooth deceleration. Really!
Invisible. Mounted inside the frame, never contacts wheel surface, no replaceable parts.

I've just learned that 4XS-equipped skates will be released in 2010 by a major inline manufacturer (who I can’t name because contract finalization is scheduled for October). Meanwhile, inventor Alex Bellehumeur has asked me to alert the skating community of an early-adopter's deal: priority delivery and a substantial discount on any 4XS-equipped skates in the 2010 catalog. To get your name on that list while helping me and Alex build momentum that the manufacturer won't be able to resist, submit your name using the Contact form on the 4XS web site (still referred to there as the 4Wheeler).

In a pro bono effort to help the cause, I added a Facebook page where I'll be posting updates as new details become available. I encourage interested parties to become a fan of the 4XS so you will be alerted of the latest developments. Please also share the the Contact form link with any social networking services you happen to belong to.

I personally believe that the 4XS technology is a make-or-break contribution to the continued growth of inline skating across the globe. Thanks a million for any support you can offer.

Yes, the "silent" and "invisible" aspects are very appealing to me too, and probably to others.

Sounds like a good idea Liz! Good luck with getting skates made with the new brake idea!

It is often embarrasing sometimes to use the heel brake, knowing it's going to let out a SQUEAL! (Mind you, if I make it squeal, I should be happy I managed to go fast enough for it to make a noise!)

Facebook is not an option for me, so I can't join you there, but maybe you should start a group on this network too!
