Social networking for inline skaters

My mother-in-law attended her usual bible study last week. I often provide a sounding board for her to reason the lessons that she is taking in. This week she didn’t bring up a topic of scripture, she brought up me and the quest that I am on.

She touched on my most recent endeavors and how I was willing to risk the submission of a record. Her study leader was taken aback by that prospect. He couldn’t understand why anyone in the world would be willing to put that much effort into something only to risk losing it all.

She reasoned to him that I was always doing it for the love of the sport, not for the search of fame and fortune. She told him that I wanted to get the whole world skating and this was one of my tactics.

As she stood there recanting the story to me, she suddenly realized and brought this point to my attention. She had been sitting in a class being taught by someone that had no hope or desire to achieve glory through his actions. He was doing something strictly because he believed in it. He was doing it as a matter of faith.

That is why I am here. I believe in my quest. I submit to it as a matter of faith. I may or may not succeed in my endeavors, but, it would be a wrong of me to not pursue them.

I’m not the fastest, or, the strongest. I’m certainly not the prettiest, nor, the smartest. I’m just a guy that loves to skate.

Maybe it’s enough.

It is your determination that pushes you forward. You do not allow the disappointments to derail you; at least, not for long :) Your love for the skate spawns your dedication to the tasks that will take you closer to your goal/s. The skating community notices, and appreciates you for sharing their dream.
