Ok Chris, which one was you?

Went back and reread Ty comments. Ty I think you really nailed it. It really comes down to integrity of the skater. Probably can't stop sandbagging, but we can discourage it. This is after all recreational racing.

Mr. T, it is unfair to single you out and I must say that I respect you for bringing up this topic. I agree with Bill that someone who is skating a 1:30 should not be in fitness class. That being said, looking at the results from the race there were…

As a race organizer for ski racing we solved this problem long ago. After the race we will move people accordingly if their time does not fit into their chosen race group. We simply won't allow sandbagging. Obviously this creates other problems but…

I hate taking my phone w/ me on a skate, but I do. I do not answer but return calls when I'm done. I take it because I skate by myself a lot and just in case.... I really do like the Garmin. I feel it is really accurate. It has lasted 6 years so far…

Hey Southeast Michigan skaters.  There is a social skate in downtown Detroit June 15th.  I have done this skate before and it is a great thrill to skate the streets of the D with a group.  A couple of pub stops along the way. Check this link.  http…

Am I the only skater out here who still uses Garmin? I feel like a dinosaur.

I went from the radical pro 100 to the Jet w/ no isssues. I, like you was looking at the semi until I took a good look at teh Jet. I was able to find the Jet for only slightly more than the semi.

One at a time for sure. I recommend this even if you have help.

Hey let me know how it goes. I have a pair of radical 100s that I don't use anymore. I don;t know if thamy frames would fit your boot but thought I would mention it.

cross training is the final step in being really fast. You can't do the same type of training day in and day out. Your body gets used to it and just like human nature, learns how to just get by.

Ya I would not let him out of my sight. You should consider a jogger. It is a high end stroller with bike wheels made specificly for this. You could skate and push him. My girls loved this. Also a very good workout in a hurry. I know they are availa…

Looking forward to catching a skate with you soon. The new skates are on the FedEx truck heading this way now :-)

I've got to get my long distance wind back, on a 10 mile I'm running about a 4 min mile if I hold my speed down. I'm most comfortable at about a 17 - 18mph pace, but that kills the legs in a few miles. My best mile so far this season was skated earlier today at 3:14.40, but I only put up 6.3 miles. I think my biggest saving grace for speed right now is that I've got a pretty solid grasp on the double push, and man do I ever wish I had that technique way back when I raced!

I'm sure the new skates will make a bit of a difference as I don't get a whole lot of glide out of 84a 80mm wheels :-) Just have to wait impatiently until they arrive!

Big wheels go fast :-) I just look at that as an opportunity to work on ski racing technique lol. I'm hoping to get my mile time to an average of 3:30 soon, and work my way down into the low 3's. What kind of pace do you typically run?

I had actually signed up a while back, had lost the link :-) Hey, are there any local 10k, 1/2 Marathon, or Marathons coming up in Mi? I know Wolverine's speed team used to be the hub of things... maybe they'll host one?

Bell Island race, I believe that is the one some of our Bont Team came out and had a wonderful time there. I will have to look for info on it for it sounded like it would be a great fun destination holiday + a race. I am schedule our cross country trip in 2010 and 2011 already trying to get to some awesome areas of the USA & Canada to visit and race. I have traveled all over the world so now that I am retired it is time to see much, much more of the US and all of its wonders.
I believe I also asked if you did ice and or indoor. Take care. R(O)(O)(O)(O)ger

Hi Dean, I definitely remember you. If you're available, we're going to be skating on Labor Day from Kensington. (The Kensington, Island Lake, Wixom, South Lyon route.) Should be a relatively moderate pace.

Meet 9:30am at East Boat Launch, lower parking lot.
