Yes, I am in Agoura and lived in Thousand Oaks. The bike lanes are full of debris usually , and I have skated it once, but the presence of cars next to me together with the debris makes me uneasy...
After all I have been hit by a car while skating in Balboa Park.
I would like to climb some of the hills.. But, I am concerned, again, about the cars. In particular in the downhill sections. Traffic is quite busy these days on Malibu Canyon. Another choice would be the road that from PCH takes you to Kanan Road in Agoura.. wider and better pavement than Malibu Canyon. However, I must say that having to go into the tunnels on skates and having seen how some maniacs drive on that road, I can convince myself to do it. Without cars 100% thumbs up, but with cars.... it is a different story. At least for me. However, Balboa Park is quite challenging (bad pavement, mindless pedestrians, car crossings, headwinds, dust, debris) and get a good training there. It is boring to do it over and over.. but that is the best I can do for now. Temscal Canyon to Venice Beach was erased from my repertoire.. waist of time. Go there only when I have friends visiting so they can do the tourists.. and tell home they skated on that section.

Malibu Canyon on skates would scare me Johathan. Unless I am sure there are no cars.
Normally I skate around Balboa Park, Westlake area might have better surface.. but I think that it is safe only in the early hours of the morning.
Sorry for not replying earlier.. I was on a road trip for work

Hey Jonathan! Great to see you here, hope to see you again soon "in the flesh". I'm not going to do 24h solo anytime soon, my right knee could not handle last years 24h duo for more than 2/3rd of the race so I don't think it's a good idea right now. Cheers, Andy.

Glad to hear you will be putting the skates on more in 09. You have always ben one of my targets and love being in a pack with you. Sounds like you had a blast traveling around in the RV. I have been having work done to ours, direct TV(Premier Coach), radios/sound systems & new alarm system(Josh Kelly the black skater of past), I will build and office desk/work area for V soon so it functions better for her in 2009. I am extremely busy with projects home/coach/at family/skating etc. I do not know how I did all of this stuff while working too. Much to complete/do by June when "Gone on a Flyer" rolls out of California.
Stay tuned for more videos and stories to show up here, you are going to just be drooling all over the El Do videos I shoot a few weeks back. Take care, hope your schedule will allow you to come for ROB and stay a week to play. R(O)(O)(O)(O)ger
