Keaton - Didn't your folks teach you to keep that in your mouth. If you fall with it out like that... it could come off.

I know, my dumb mistake. I didn't change my name in time after I got married and now I need to re-apply for a whole new passport and pay full price. If I would've changed it within the year I got married it would've been free. I just haven't had the…

Rayna - How are you going to get to Winnepeg without a passport. You gotta get one! I was at the same race last year and really enjoyed the small, intimate race. First time I made it on the podium with Herb Gayle and Peter Doucet! This year I'm taki…

THUNDER BAY HALF MARATHON

Race conditions were excellent for the Thunder Bay Half Marathon this morning. The 7:00 am gun was even more challenging for the top 3 finishers. All had body-clocks reading one hour earlier, due to the time change. The course is rolling-hills with a beautiful Lake Superior view, to make up for the rude awakening.

The downhill start was a moderate pace to the first cone turn - 2k out. After the slow-down for this first turn, Randy Plett took the lead and skated hard but failed

Hey, John ... Couldn't afford to get to St. Paul this time. (The recession's been tough!) ... I'll be at Duluth and NY100K. ... Hope to see you at at least one of them. (

Hi John!

I am a rec skater, mostly skating bike paths and in the street or on the sidewalks here in Oslo and the surrounding areas. Getting 100mm wheels really opened up Oslo for my skating the city. Even on 5x80 it always felt like hard work as the asphalt/blacktop here is often rough going compared to the rest of Europe I have experienced.

I've done a few short races, 10-20K maybe, but they were mostly just for fun to see how/if I would like it. I think I would have to be a fast skater to enjoy races; I found them rather lonely as no one talks and a little stressful as one has to hurry up all the time... :-)

The largest (loosely) organized group of skaters in Norway is Rollers.no. We basically teach skating and do social skates in the weekend. We meet once or twice a week at Valle Hovin in the summer, have you been there? Check out www.rollers.no.

In the winter we organize nordic skating, close to 1000 on the mailing list now, 30+ skaters showed up each weekend this last season. I do the planning and lead most of the trips on the ice.

There is a summer suite of inline races with prize money, but I think the general idea in Norway is that inlines are for kids. Real skaters ice skate! Chad Hedrick shook up that notion quite a bit, but they always slagged his style, even though he won races. :-)
