Quest for the best skate for me (a neverending story being revisited freshly)
I've been actively and aggressively skating for a pretty long time... since 1988. So I've been through many many pairs of skates. I started w Rollerblades because they were the only thing available at the time, then discovered the comfort and design of K2 skates, which I stayed with for most of the next 15-20 years. Last year, I became intrigued with the lacing system (and soft boot design) of the Rollerblade Crossfire 4.0 skate, and have enjoyed them... though, I've had two serious equipment failures with them... one, the wheel frame (yes, the metal frame that holds the wheels) became detached in the middle of a high speed run and put me in serious danger, and two, the lace on one boot broke while skating (on the replacement skates), requiring factory repair.
I need a skate that is light and fast, extremely durable, preferably (but not required) has a nice lacing system like the one on the Crossfire 4.0 (single pull string that tightens entire system). I've been using 84mm 84a wheels for a good while -- my favorites to-date have been Labeda Team Racing (the purple ones). But I'm very open to using larger wheels. And, I've been trying 91a hardness lately and like, generally.
I'm 210 pounds, experience wheel wear and go through new wheels frequently, skate aggressively, strongly, and do tricks (e.g. dancing, light jumping, twirling, fancy display stuff). My skates have to be tough.
What's out there for that? I'm looking! I'm probably way out of date with my knowledge of what the latest greatest is for aggressive inline fitness cross-training skates. Thanks, dear community. :)

Sounds like we're similar in the skating emphasis of fitness and fun. I skate about 3-4 times a week, 15-20 miles with rollerski poles on the many bikepaths and quieter streets around Albuquerque. My favorite starts at I-25 and Paseo, climb Paseo on a wide bikepath, south along tramway and up into High Desert neighborhood. I gain about 700 feet and have a 45 minute super-G run back.
Where do you do your over-the-road skating in Santa Fe? I've done a few skates there, setting out from the downtown area, out toward St. Vincents, or El Gancho, and up into the residential streets in the foothills. It all seems pretty tight, with traffic and not much shoulders.
That's quite a blowout on the skate assembly. I just got some K2 motos. I had 6200 miles on my old K2 Catalysts. The Motos are okay, but I like more of a high-wrap boot and less squooshy. Also they have the different size bearings so my old powell swiss won't fit in them...and they have those pesky little plastic things that pop out when you rotate them.
Anyways thanks for checking in. --Don Dean
Thanks for your kind words. I haven't had my skates on in a month. Today that changes, because of you. You have inspired me. It means more than you could ever know.
