Ya know, as I analyzed my race afterwards, this was my exact thought. The pace was slow, I still felt strong, and I was far enough back in the pack that I would have had a big head of steam by the time I passed the leaders. I could have had a huge g…

I was in wave 1 and a summer of hard training left me well prepared to try and finish high in the open wave. A little lolly-gagging in the staging area got me to the start line a little late and I was half way back in the pack when we started. I duc…

I used to live in West St. Paul so I would skate the Lilydale trail all the time. I live in Inver Grove now, but work in Edina which is why a lot of my trianing in done at Hyland Park. You should check it out if you haven't already. It's a hidden secret in the cities in my opinion. I also hit the Cannon Valley trail since it's only 20 minutes from my place. I just started skating the gateway as I realized I tend to slow my pace on long stretches of trail where there is no end in site. I think the 2-3 mile loops I usually do have conditioned me like that. We should do some training together next summer. I'll be at the rollerdome this year too if you ever go there in the winter.
