Where's Buda, Texas? Just south of Austin. Been skating a long time, but I am not that competitive. I started speed skating at 40...so I got a late start...but gonna keep doing it until....

Hi Nadine; It was so great to meet you! I look forward to staying in touch. I hope you had a great time skating and you met your goals for the weekend. Thanks so much for the information. I have been wrapping my heel in a 'cold' gel pack every night. I will try the ice bucket :| doesn't sound fun, but neither is being in chronic pain. I am giving skating a break for at least a month, until I am confident that I won't reinjur it. I am cycling with some friends - that doesn't seem to irritate my foot...and it allows me to stay active. I want to skate in Atlanta in October...we'll see. Gotta run. Take care and talk to you soon.
Hi Carla! As promised here are a few suggestions.
Ice bath after activity or anytime it is feeling sore. Put ice water in a bucket and put your foot in it for the four stages, cold, burning, aching, and take it out when it gets numb. I would also recommend eccentric exercises. Below are some links to exercises and a great tip sheet. The one thing you need to do is find a really good technical person to identify why it reoccurs.
Good luck and I hope it heals soon!

No worries. Is why I did the "~Renee" thing hoping it would help. Cool you two got things set up. The plan is for me to arrive at some point on Thursday, driving up from TX so I can't give any kind of useful time right now. Only can promise I will likely be grumbling "friggin' 65 mph Iowa" for a little while. Am working the morning for RollerBob's booth at the expo but told will be allowed to go out and plan after 3 PM ish.
Heal up quickly!!
My bad, my crash at the skills clinic was what NOT to do on skates.
Still coming to St. Paul?
I forget, too many spins on helmet and all, did you order a pair of shorts too? I kind of spaced after dinner that night. ha ha. Who am and I why did I DNA donate on road again?
Welcome to the Planet! I just started inline skating at 39. :) I use to speed skate a couple of decades ago. I also had a nice bump on my knee too! Did you do that skating?
