Hey –– any takers for a long skate this Saturday or Sunday in the East Bay? I'm thinking the Bay Trail would be lots of fun... Or perhaps the Iron Horse Trail. Speedskaters' pace, maybe 15-25 miles. Who's game?

When I drop down to Canada rd I usually do two big laps, 30 miles, down to Woodside and back - trying to begin at 8am (usually 9am tho).

When I do the Rodota its usually out and back, about 35 miles, but I break it up w two snack stops sometimes (nice to have a cafe o lait for the final 15 miles)

Canada Rd is the tougher 30 miles , the hills (and Eric!) take a lot out of me.

Rodota seems more casual.

Sometimes I head to Sac to do the American River trail, if I'm feeling froggy I try to do 107km. That trail is 32 miles end to end, longish climb the last few miles to the turnaround.

Amer Riv trail this time of year has to be started 0 dark 30 because it gets a tad warm. (like 7am start for the 107km, or an 8am no matter what the distance)

My pace tomorrow on the Rodota will be about 15mph steady speed, no heroics.

Jonathan
ps Can't drive the 1hr 30 min one way to Canada Rd tomorrow, we just got a 10 week old yellow lab puppy and the shit is hitting the fan lol

Hi Jim –

I think I'm going to opt in, and Mattie says that she wants to come too. Sorry, Jonathan, your skate is just a little too much for tomorrow. Perhaps next weekend, though? And also, would you like to come along to Canada Road instead?

Jon (et al.), I'm up for Canada Rd, departing about 7:30. Let me know if that works. Rodota sounds intriguing but long.

Hi Jonathan –

I might want to go... Or I might be headed to Canada Road. (Jim - are you interested?) What sort of pace would you skate at along the Joe Rodota trail? What time would you be going? And could I get a ride?

I meant Santa Rosa

Anybody want to come up to Sonoma Sunday? I will be skating the Joe Rodota trail end to end, about 35 or 40 miles

Jonathan
message me if interested

Bay trail: Berkeley to Point Richmond and back, tomorrow, around noon.

I'll be heading out north from the Sea Breeze Cafe in Berkeley on my 110mm skates tomorrow at noon. I'm traveling with my friend Orlando, who likes to ride his bike at a 20-22mph pace, drafting off the back.

If there are any fast skaters out there, let me know and we'll set a precise time to rendezvous.

I'm headed to Canada Road tomorrow, leaving Berkeley around 8AM. Let me know if you want to ride along! Jim

I had a big time out in the wind today, John, blood and all.

I could take 4 (incl. me) to Canada Rd. if anyone wants to ride along.
