Roger was hit by a car on the way to the Weds evening skate near his home in San Deigo:
Eabenoza (Steve) posted this note to the allskate list:
Rooooger is spending the night at the Western Medical Center Hospital for observation and few more X-rays and tests due to an accident on his way to the Wednesday evening skate. A distracted woman went through a red light and hit Rooooger pretty bad while crossing the street on his skates. He landed on the hood and windshield of the car and bounced back to the asphalt. He was unconscious for a while and suffered a concussion; his face shows the results of the nasty impact. Fortunately he is in good spirits but quite soared. On the negative side, his favorite skin-suit and one of his Bont Vaypor frames are history. A lady found Virginia's phone in Rooooger's wallet and contacted her.
We feel very fortunate that he survived in one piece and in better shape than many in similar circumstances would.
We wish you prompt and complete recovery dear friend!!!
I tried calling Western Medical Center in Santa Ana (where he was supposed to be) but they said they didn't have a patient by that name. He was supposed to be in Room 422.
I was watching the Tour of Ireland tonight and they ran the commercial with Levi Leipheimer and the I.d. bracelet. Then I read this post and got to the part about the lady finding Roooogers wallet and a contact number. We all should learn a little something from this. Carry some kind of I.d. on yourself no matter how tight your skin suit is.Get well soon ROGER!!!!
Thank You all for your best wishes. I will call robert and do an interview so he may post something here., I am home now and will up date everyone asap. R(O)(O)(O)(O)ger
Glad to hear you're up and about Roger, glad to hear you're Ok
I highly recommend www.roadid.com for these things - I only have 1, and I've actually forgotten to put it on my skates (it's on my bike shoes). Gotta go fix that now ...
Don't know if any of you saw this yet, but a Minnesota skater by the name of Robert Forrer died Sunday after being hit by a car as he crossed a road on the Paul Bunyan Trail in Pequot Lakes. Police are blaming him for the accident. They say he failed to stop at a stop sign. But there is no info in the story about how fast the car was driving or whether any other factors may have been involved. ... Anyway, kinda makes you see that Roger was lucky to have survived with a broken leg, etc. ... By the way, some of you may know Robert Forrer, who was 59, from the NorthShore Inline Marathon. He checked the online results, and he skated it for the last four years at least. His best time came last year: 1:46:29. My condolences to his family. Brainerd Dispatch story
