Big ups to the organizers. Perfect day, perfect pavement, beautiful setting, great people, big competitive pack. Awesome. Next year, can you do something about the long drive home?

Full report coming soon...but actually it was slower than last year. With the pros grouped together there was a lot of team skating and people not wanting to work for other teams, so there was a lot of stop and go, still at pace but not as consistently high a pace as last year. Sergio was a machine, I talked to Peter afterwords and he said there were 3 or 4 guys in the lead pack just rotating in 10s pulls trying to catch Sergio, but no joy.

I ate a road snake in the second lap of the 42 so was completely flushed. I hammered though and was able to pick up some other skaters and we caught ourselves up to the chase pack. The leaders were too far ahead to catch.

Overall very happy, the event went very smoothly, everyone seemed to have a good time. For myself I have a cracked rib from a fall on Friday night, and I was happy just to survive the 42k. Strangely it hurts more to walk than to skate. Go figure.

An excuse to wear skates to work for a couple of weeks! What more could a person want?
