What is "mid distance" ? Is 10km a "mid distance" in NROC jargon? If so, what is a half marathon called?

For sure St Paul is a great host city for an NROC event!

Hey, Jonathan. ... Where are you skating this weekend ... or are we going to be rained out? ...
I would say mid-distance is anything from a half marathon to a 1000 meters (maybe longer than 1000). ... What would you say?

What has been used since about 1988 :

Sprint distance - 100 to 500m
shprt distance - 1000 to 5000m
middle distance 10km to 30km
long distance - 40 /50km
ultradistance - 100km 130km
ultramarathon - 130km +

Skating terms should be different from running 0 running a 5km top times about 14 min - 10km about 27 or 28 minutes, marathon (42km) about 2:05, etc.

I will be skating at crystal springs tomorrow IF its not raining - no need to spend 3 hrs in the car to get wet! I can get just as wet with a 20 min ride to my local training area..

Regards

We were originally planning on staying in downtown St.Paul, taking a shuttle from the airport and not having to rent a car while there. Sounds like the 1/2 marathon will still be downtown? Will there be a shuttle from downtown to the 10K on Sunday? Or will this trip now require a car rental? Thanks for the additional information :)

Hi Sharon,

Good question. The oval is less than 15 minutes from the Crown Plaza in Saint Paul. We will look into some transportation options for you to consider.

I've sent them an email asking for an answer to whether the discount still applies ... I'll let you know when I hear back.

I'm about to book my flight but detail is scarce for the 10k on Sunday. What is the start time? I wonder if a 2pm flight is cutting too close?

I haven't seen a schedule yet. But the plan is for the morning. Still a 2pm flight might be cutting it short.

Hi,

Since this race is on a track, how many competitors will be racing at the same time? Are you planning to have starts for each categories or have a mass start with every categories in the same bunch? I would like to know more about the schedule

Thanks
